Our 2019-2020 Sponsors:
Did you know that 1 in 5 children in Wake County live in a food insecure household? Penny Road is again partnering with Urban Ministries of Wake County for this year’s “Students Against Hunger”food drive. Urban Ministries of Wake County provides struggling families with healthy, nutritious food.
The Food Drive will take place each morning from Tuesday, November 19 through Friday, November 22. You may deliver your donated food goods to the front lobby between 8:45 a.m. and 9:15 a.m.
The food items most needed are canned meats, cereal (low sugar), oatmeal, grits, granola bars, pasta sauce (low sodium), and canned beans.
The top class in each grade that donates the most food items will win “THE GOLDEN CAN” trophy and a classroom reward. The top class in each grade will also have its picture taken for the PRE website and Yearbook!
Any donation that you can provide in making this Food Drive a success is appreciated!
Please be aware of the following upcoming Hospitality events as we bring a close to October, and say hello to November! Please keep in mind all relevant dates and information can also be found on Konstella!
Hospitality needs your help to show our wonderful teachers how much they are appreciated!
November 20th, Penny Road Staff appreciation luncheon.
December 18th, Penny Road Staff holiday luncheon.
It's always a good day to thank a teacher!
PENNY ROAD ADVOCACY UPDATEThe Wake County PTA Advocacy group is hosting a discussion on vaping later this month. Michelle Mulvihill, Public Health Educator/Tobacco Prevention and Control Manager from the Wake County Health Department will be talking about vaping, specifically what we can do to address policy issues that can make an impact and parent messaging. The meeting space is being donated by a church in Cary, and if you need to bring children, it is in a large enough room where they could read/screen time/etc without being an issue. Because this is a hot topic, especially among high schools, parents and PTA members are welcome to join.
